PHOTO OF THE MONTH
Singapore, World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2024
After the brief interlude on Nov. 10 for the Best Sportsman of Ticino award night (thanks to all who voted for me!), from Friday the 17th to Sunday the 19th I competed in the Swiss Championships in the short course, also trying out some alternative races to the butterfly. In the 400 individual medley, which I had not competed in the short course since 2018, I improved my personal best by 11 seconds, clocking a good 4.07.14; on the second day, I competed in the 200 butterfly, with a time of 1.50.32, less than a second off my Swiss record, set when I won silver at the world championships in Melbourne a year ago; on the last day, I competed in two finals about ten minutes apart, stopping the clock at 22.19 in the 50 butterfly and 1.53.39 in the 200 individual medley. Beyond the four Swiss titles, I am very satisfied with the times obtained at a time when I am still in full preparation for the upcoming championships, which place me at the top of the seasonal world rankings, but, above all, these times give me confidence to compete at the highest level in the upcoming European Short Course Championships, which will take place in Otopeni (Bucharest), December 5-10. In Romania, I will definitely compete in all the butterfly distances.
