Paris, European Long-Course Championships

Even the European Championships in Paris are now behind me. Once again, it was an exciting, enriching and rewarding experience. My times were excellent — very close to my personal bests — and I am very happy to have added another medal to my long-course European Championships medal tally. The 49.40 I recorded in my butterfly leg of the 4 × 100 m medley relay final means a lot to me, especially with the new season ahead!

In any case, these Championships once again tested my resilience and my ability to bounce back quickly from a problem or setback. As always, there is a lot to learn from negative situations, even when — as was the case with my goggles — you have made no mistakes or been careless. As I often say, I have to focus on the things I can influence and always give my very best. When it comes to my goggles, all I can control is making sure they are not worn out — they were brand new — and that they are fitted correctly, which I always do and check several times. Everything else is beyond my control. I am very satisfied with the way I reacted, trying to find the solution above all within myself. I would also like to thank my Team, my family, the Arena Team and some fellow swimmers for their support. It is wonderful to be able to count on so many people who always show me their friendship and solidarity.
